The Urgency of the Gospel: Who Will Be the Last Person Saved in 2024?
As we approach the end of another year, a thought-provoking question arises: Who will be the last person saved and baptized in 2024? While we may never know the answer, this question serves as a powerful reminder of the urgency and intentionality with which we should approach the gospel message.
The Urgency of the Gospel Message
The gospel is the life-changing message of Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. It is a message that has the power to transform lives and secure eternal destinies. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commands His followers to go into all the world and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This Great Commission underscores the urgency of sharing the gospel with everyone, everywhere.
As believers, we are called to live with a sense of urgency, recognizing that time is short and life is uncertain. We do not know who the last person to be saved in 2024 will be, but we do know that there are people who need to hear the gospel today. We must seize every opportunity to share this message of hope and salvation.
God's Call to Individuals
While the gospel is meant for all nations, it is ultimately a personal message. God calls individuals to Himself, one person at a time. Throughout the Bible, we see examples of Jesus reaching out to individuals, like Zacchaeus, who climbed a sycamore tree just to catch a glimpse of Him. Jesus saw Zacchaeus and called him by name, demonstrating that salvation is a personal encounter with the Savior.
In the same way, God is calling each of us to be His witnesses, sharing the gospel with those around us. We may not be able to reach everyone, but we can reach someone. Each person we encounter is an opportunity to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
Our Response: Living with Intentionality
So, how should we respond to the question of who will be the last person saved in 2024? First, if you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Savior, today is the day to say yes to Him. If you have been saved but have not followed the Lord in believer's baptism, take that step of obedience.
For those of us who are already believers, we must commit to living with intentionality and urgency. We should pray for opportunities to share the gospel and ask God to bring others alongside us in this mission. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37-38). Let us be those laborers, reaching out to a world in need of the hope and salvation found in Jesus Christ.
As we move into 2025, let us carry the urgency of the gospel with us, knowing that what we do truly matters. Lives are at stake, and eternity hangs in the balance. May we be faithful in our calling to share the life-changing message of Jesus with the world.
