We believe that every truly born-again soul should declare his faith by the act of baptism (immersion in water); showing forth Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. (Matt. 28:19-20, Acts 2:41-42, Acts 18:8)
We believe that God has given the local church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel; both locally and globally to all nations (Matt. 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46-48, John 20:21; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:20)
We believe that Christians are to be good stewards of what God has entrusted to them. As a part of that stewardship, every Christian is called to faithfully give a tithe to the local church. (Gen 14:20, Prov. 3:9-10, Acts 4:34-37, 1 Cor. 16:2,
2 Cor. 9:6-7, Gal. 6:6, 1 Tim 5:17-19)
We believe that at Christ’s coming in the air, the bodies of the dead in Christ shall be raised incorruptible and reunited with soul and spirit; the bodies of Christians who are alive shall be changed and glorified and, without dying, shall be caught up to be with the Lord. The saved will then appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ and be rewarded for their works. After these things, Christ will return bodily and visibly to the earth, with His saints, and shall rule the world in righteousness for a thousand years. At the end of this time, the unsaved dead will be resurrected, and their judgment and condemnation shall take place. (1 Thes. 4:13-17, 1 Cor. 15:51-53, 2 Cor. 5:10, 1 Cor. 3:11-15, Matt. 24:30-31, Rev. 19:11-16, Rev. 20:5-6, 11, 15).

Gordon was saved in 1972 in Montgomery, Alabama. He began preaching a year later. His full-time ministry started in 1979 in Panama City, Florida, at Central Baptist Church. After assuming the role of Sunday School Administrator in 1984, the Sunday school grew from 350 to 1500 in six years. In 1991, he became pastor of Fundamental Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida. The church experienced rapid growth and soon outgrew the buildings. The church voted to relocate and changed the name to Marcus Pointe Baptist Church.
Since 1991, the average weekly attendance has climbed from 63 to more than 2,350. The church supports numerous missionaries at home and around the world and a Christian School that includes preschool and elementary K4-5th Grade. Other ministries include a Thrift Store and Food Pantry. The church has averaged more than 700 salvations and 300 baptisms a year.
Pastor Godfrey has served, and is serving, on several boards, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tim Lee Ministries, and S.C.O.R.E. International. Pastor Godfrey has conducted numerous Sunday School and Stewardship Growth Conferences and has written several books and manuals regarding church growth and management.
