COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What do I wear?
Anything from three peice suits to pajama pants. This is a come as you are service. Many of our famileis let their kids come in their PJs...others get all dressed up and have some pretty great familiy photo ops in the park. It's 100% up to you...we just hope you will come and worship with us.
What about the weather?
This is one thing we cannot control. We have often had rather cold mornings for this service, so bringing blankets or dressing in layers is recommended.
Historically, we have only had one rainout of a SonRise service. If that looks possible, we will make the call sometime on Saturday and post an update here and on social media.
Do you have coffee?
Unfortunately, providing coffee for over 6,000 people in a short amount of time has proven to be no easy feat. Traveling Tom's Coffee Truck is usually with us that morning, but we recommend bringing your own coffee just in case. If you need a travel coffee cup to keep it warm for hours, we can help with that! Just call us, and we’ll set one aside for you at the office.
CONTINUING THE TRADITION OF
WORSHIP IN AMERICA'S FIRST CITY
The very first Christian worship service in what would become the United States happened right here in Pensacola, Florida, on September 15, 1559. This service was part of the De Luna Expedition, led by Tristán de Luna y Arellano, who was attempting to establish a Spanish settlement.
The service was led by Reverend Francisco López, a Protestant chaplain accompanying the expedition. This very first service is commemorated on Pensacola Beach by the Beach Cross, which stands atop its dunes.
We are proud to continue the tradition of Christian worship in Pensacola.
